La Tercera Nación
Tijuana
There has always been a strong feeling amongst the local population that Tijuana was a city caught in between the cultures of the United States and Mexico. Its unique culture contained stories of famous personalities, authors, writers and screen directors who had made Tijuana their home, either permanently or on a temporary basis.
In order to capture some media attention, a project was initiated to utilise two kilometres of border fence and one kilometre of the city’s main canal to create a highly visible statement.
Integrating the works of local photographers, painters and artists, an overlapping sequence of photographs created a sense of film or moving images for motorists driving parallel to the border fence, while the canal mural became a highly visible welcome or departure for those travelling by air.
